AI Policy

Last updated

The quick version: We use AI tools to help with research, drafting and images. A human editor reviews and edits every article before it goes live. We never make realistic AI images of children. And AI never gets the final say on safety.

We use AI for

  • Research: pulling together activity ideas, supply lists and common questions, which our editor then checks against reliable sources.
  • Drafting: outlines, first drafts of steps and descriptions, and headline or Pinterest description options.
  • Images: overhead activity setups, finished crafts and illustrated printable mockups.
  • Proofing: catching typos and clunky sentences.

A human always

  • reads and edits every article before it's published
  • checks the age range, prep time, mess level and supplies
  • checks every safety note against sources like the CPSC and AAP
  • proofreads every printable for spelling, counting and letter mistakes
  • signs off with their name on the "Reviewed by" line

Nothing goes from an AI tool straight onto the site.

Our image rules, especially about kids

  • No realistic AI images of children. No AI-generated children's faces, ever. Our activity images show hands, supplies, overhead setups and finished crafts.
  • AI images are labeled where it matters. They show the idea of an activity, not a photo of a real child's work.
  • Your version will look different. Usually messier. That's how it's supposed to go.
  • No fake "real results." We don't present AI images as photos from real families or classrooms.

When we share AI-generated images on Pinterest, we follow Pinterest's rules on labeling AI content.

Safety stays with people

AI tools can miss a choking hazard or suggest something that's fine for a 6-year-old but not a 2-year-old. That's why AI never sets age ranges or safety notes on its own. Our editor checks every one against reliable sources.

Product picks

Toys, books and craft supplies we recommend are chosen from research of public product information, age labels, specs and reviews. We haven't tested them unless the post says we have. AI might help gather product details, but a person chooses every pick.

What we won't do

  • publish anything without human review
  • invent stories about "my kids," fake reader testimonials or "we tried it" claims
  • create realistic images of children
  • let AI write safety guidance without a person checking it
